Chapter 14: The Most Beautiful Girl
Third period P.E. ended without any incidents, and I didn’t end up getting close to Fusekawa Yorito, the protagonist.
Reo really had a knack for handling things. He managed to keep just the right distance between me and Fusekawa Yorito while talking to me friendly as a friend.
With this, it seemed possible to keep my distance from Fusekawa Yorito while getting closer to Reo. I could see a glimmer of hope in my quest to escape my role as the villain.
As the morning classes ended, lunchtime arrived.
Today, too, Fusekawa Yorito, the protagonist, took his lunch and headed to the rooftop with the heroines. Reo went off to another classroom with his friends from the basketball club.
Left with the other background characters, I decided to have my lunch in the classroom.
I spread out the handmade lunch that was wrapped in a lunch cloth on my desk. Having prepared it early this morning, it looked delicious.
Now, what should I start with?
Should I go for the hamburger I made yesterday, or the rolled omelet? Hmm, maybe I should start with the cherry tomatoes—
Just as I was about to reach for my chopsticks, a high-pitched cheer suddenly echoed through the classroom.
It was the kind of cheer that background characters give when a heroine who adds color to the story captures their attention. But Fusekawa Yorito, the protagonist, had gone to the rooftop with the heroines, and I couldn’t imagine another beautiful girl worthy of the title “heroine” showing up in this classroom full of background characters.
What could have happened? As I wondered, I looked up.
“Whoa…”
A voice slipped out inadvertently.
The sight before me was too dazzling for someone like me, who was supposed to be the villain.
She was a beautiful girl. Her long, soft, glossy black hair flowed smoothly, her large blue eyes sparkled like stars, framed by long eyelashes, and her pink lips were glossy and moist.
Her facial features were as perfect as a finely crafted doll, her smooth white skin was flawless, and her limbs were slender and graceful. Her neatly worn uniform further accentuated her innocent and lovely appearance.
She was the ultimate beautiful girl, far surpassing the three heroines that usually surrounded the protagonist.
And the aura she exuded was regal. Every step she took elicited sighs from the students around her. The atmosphere truly changed in that moment.
Everyone was wide-eyed at the arrival of this extraordinary beauty, and the background characters in the class continued to gaze at her with envy.
(Hey, wait a minute… Why is such an undeniably beautiful girl appearing here, in a place without the protagonist?)
My confusion grew even more intense.
Because, without paying any attention to the reactions around her, she stopped right in front of my seat. And the words spoken in a voice as beautiful as a bell were unmistakably directed at me—and for some reason, that voice sounded familiar.
“Hey there, Ryusuke. I came to visit.”
The ultimate beautiful girl looked at me with an innocent smile.
“Huh? Wha? Oh? Ah!??”
“Hey, don’t be so surprised! I just dyed my hair black, let down my side ponytail, and lightened my makeup a bit.”
Seeing me speechless with shock, the ultimate beautiful girl pouted in dissatisfaction.
What was going on? Until yesterday, you looked completely different.
“…Mashiro!?”
Yes.
She was Mashiro Amanatsu—a fellow villain like me, who had been a gyaru-style girl until yesterday, but now appeared before me as the most beautiful girl in this romantic comedy world.
